Pioneer Woman of Lacey Succumbs
Mrs. Katherine Kramer, 67, wife of Martin Kramer, resident of Lacey, died at her home Thursday forenoon. Mrs Kramer was born in Wisconsin, February 12, 1867. The family later moved to Nebraska where Katherine was married to Mr. Kramer February 20, 1887.

They came to the coast in 1889, locating in Portland. After a brief residence there they moved to South Bend and had remained in southwestern Washington ever since. They had resided on a farm at Lacey for the last 24 years.

Surviving is the widower, four sons, Andrew, of Idaho, Fred and Anthony, of this county, and Leo, of Canada, one daughter, Mrs. J. A. John, of Cowlitz prairie, and 15 grandchildren. Surviving also are four sisters and two brothers residing elsewhere. Mrs. Kramer was a member of the Catholic Church. The body is at the Mills parlors pending arrangements for the funeral.

Martin Kramer Dies;
Well Known In Lacey


Martin Kramer, 78, well known resident of the Lacey Community, died in an Olympia hospital Wednesday morning.

Mr. Kramer was born in Bavaria and was brought to the United States, and in 1889 moved to Portland. He was one of the men who laid out the town of South Bend. He came to Thurston County in 1909, locating at Lacey. He was for a number of years employed by the Northern Pacific Railway, but later engaged in farming. He was an active member of the Catholic Church.

Surviving is the widow, Kate; four sons, Fred and Leo, Olympia; Andrew, Porthill, Idaho, and Anthony, Bremerton. There are 22 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The body is at Mills and Mills’. Funeral services will be held in Sacred Heart Church at Lacey this Friday morning at 9:00 o’clock. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary will be said in the Lacey Church this Thursday evening at 7:45 o’clock.

Calvary Cemetery - Tumwater Washington

This cemetery is located along Cleveland Avenue SE just south of North St SE. Three cemeteries are at this location. The Masonic Memorial Cemetery is to the North and Odd Fellows is next. Calvary Catholic Cemetery is the farthest south. A tall hedge running east to east divides the Odd Fellows Cemetery and Calvery Cemetery. The western edge of Calvary Cemetery is approximately even with the western end of the hedge.

Directions to Masonic, Oddfellows and Calvary Catholic Cemeteries at Tumwater WA
Exit I-5 at Trosper Rd exit. Go east 1/2 block to Capital Blvd SW turn left on Capital Blvd and go about 1/2 mile to light at Custer Way SE. Turn right on Custer and go about 1/2 block to Cleveland Ave SE. Turn right on Cleveland. (Custer Way SE becomes North St SE at this intersection).

The Masonic Cemetery is at the southeast corner of Custer Way/North St and Cleveland Ave SE. Travelling south Odd Fellows Cemetery is next and Calvary Cemetery is the furtherest south. Calvary Cemetery can be entered from the driveway to the Odd Fellows office or at a driveway at the most southern side.

The office at the Oddfellows Cemetery does not have the records for the Calvary Cemetery. They are held by St Michael's Parish at Olympia.
